Waynetown June 23 -- Mrs. Susan Fine Wert, 82, passed away here Tuesday morning at 10:20 o'clock four hours before the funeral of her son, the late Dr. C.C. Wert of Covington. Mrs. Wert who had been seriouly ill for four weeks had not been informed of the death of her son a prominent Fountain County physician. The deceased was born Oct 11, 1848 near Wallace, the daughter of David and Mary Byers (sic) Fine. She was united in marriage to Joseph Wert Jan 4, 1874. Her husband passed away Nov 25, 1920. (sic). Mrs. Fine had lived in and near Wallace the greater part of her life and was a member of the Myers Lutheran Church. She had been in declining health for the past 5 years. Because of her condition she was not informed of the death of her son Sunday. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Del Barnett of Waynetown and Mrs. Fritz Smith of near Crawfordsville; one sister, Mrs. Rachel Roberts of Wallace; one brother Jacob Fine of Wallace; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Myers Lutheran Church near Wallace and will be in charge of the Reverend Donaldson of Frankfort. Burial will be in the cemetery near the church. The body will be at the home of Mrs. Barnett until Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock.

Susan C. Wert, daughter of David and Mary Myers Fine was born on a farm near Wallace, October 11, 1848. Here she grew to womanhood and on Jan 4, 1874, she was united in marriage to Joseph Wert who preceeded her in death November 25, 1920. After her marriage she and her husband began housekeeping in Wallace, residing there for a number of years, later to a farm in the Myers neighborhood, and later to a farm on the Perrysville road. Returning from that farm to Wallace where she and her husband resided until his death after which she made her home for the most part in Wallace. In childhood she was baptized in the Lutheran church and later confirmed into that church and continued a member of the same until the end of life's journey. She had been in declining health for many years and seriously ill for several weeks, growing weaker day by day, until the end at ten thirty a.m. Tuesday June 23, [1931] at the age of 82 years, either months, and twelve days. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ida Barnett of near Waynetown, Mrs Effie Smith of near Crawfordsville, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Rachel Roberts of Wallace, one brother, Jacob E. Fine of Wallace, many other relatives and friends. Following within a few hours the death of her son, Dr Charles Wert, she passed unto her reward and may peace be unto her departed soul.
